According to the authority statements to Sputnik news agency, among the options of the Ukrainian forces, a missile or a terrorist attack could be used, or even an attempt to take over the plant by crossing the Dnieper River.
Rogov assumed Ukraine might stage a provocation ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for mid-July, and denounced attempts to blame Moscow in advance, saying the Russians are planting explosives at the plant, which is located in the Zaporozhye province, under control of the forces of the Russian Federation since March 2022.
The Russian Foreign Ministry alleges that the military presence at the plant is intended to prevent leaks of radioactive materials.
Russia and Ukraine periodically accuse each other of firing at the plant’s facilities, which was left without external power sources on multiple occasions following Ukrainian artillery strikes on power lines.
