Hungary disqualifies new EU payment to Ukraine

Budapest, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary today disqualified what he called proposals of the European Commission (EC) to amend the EU budget, stating they are not serious. The fact that Brussels is giving 50 billion euros more to Ukraine is unacceptable, there is no control over the use of this money, Orban said

The head of government informed on Facebook that he held a virtual meeting with his Croatian, Slovak, Swedish, Belgian and Luxembourg counterparts on the EU budget reforms, two days before the next summit of European leaders.

According to the prime minister, the amendments proposed by Brussels “are not serious and are not suitable for discussion”.

The EC is withholding money owed to Hungary and Poland from previous joint loans and expressed that this is unacceptable, the head of government denounced.

European leaders are meeting Thursday and Friday in Brussels where they will discuss economic issues and the situation in Ukraine.

Brussels is freezing EU funds from Ukraine and Poland, which it accuses of violating the rule of law.
