EU launches second round of demand pooling for joint gas purchases

Brussels, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) The European Commission (EC) launched on Monday the second opportunity for European nations to register their gas purchase needs via the AgreegateEU mechanism, in view of jointly purchasing gas on the international market.

This proposal comes after the success of the first one, which exceeded Brussels’ expectations by obtaining an oversupply of 18.7 billion cubic meters, which exceeded the 11.6-billion demand requested by the region’s companies. Once the volume of new aggregate demand is registered between June 26 and July 3, suppliers could submit offers from Friday, July 7, to Monday, July 10.

This will occur while the results of the demand-supply matching will be published in the same week, Maros Sefcovic, Commissioner for Inter-Institutional Relations, informed.
