The announcement is made on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Madagascar’s national holiday, a festivity that commemorates its independence from France in 1960.
Diplomatic ties between the Cuban and Malagasy governments were established on April 11, 1974, since then bilateral relations have been strengthened in different areas of exchange.
The Antillean Island is grateful for Madagascar’s support in the struggle for the lifting of the U.S. blockade against Cuba, which is expressed by its vote in favor of the United Nations resolutions demanding the end of the criminal economic, financial and commercial siege imposed by Washington on the Caribbean nation more than six decades ago.
