Allende was a social leader, minister, parliamentarian, and visionary who contributed to the State formation throughout the 20th century, the Socialist Party, from which he was one of the founders, wrote on Twitter.
Lautaro Carmona, secretary general of the Communist Party of Chile, recalled that the comrade president headed the most democratic popular project in history, which was stopped with the coup d’état.
After graduating as a surgeon at the University of Chile in 1932, Salvador Allende held important posts, including Health Minister, lawmaker, Senator on six occasions, and President of the Republic.
During his 1970-1973 administration, Allende conducted the agrarian reform, nationalized banks and natural resources, including copper, and created vacation plans for workers and other measures to benefit the population.
