As the president of the Senate pointed out to the TASS news agency, Putin is the guarantor of the Constitution in his role as president, and for this reason the Chamber of Regions also expresses its full support for him.
Matvienko added that the Senate understands how important a responsible and consolidated position of the whole society, residents and the leadership of all regions without exception is for the current situation.
She noted that the strength of such a huge, multi-ethnic and multi-denominational country consists “in unity based on the civil position of all and on our historical intolerance of treason and provocation.”

Several audio recordings were published earlier on the Telegram channel linked to the founder of the Wagner Group, Evgeny Prigozhin, stating that Wagner’s units had been attacked in their rear camps, and blaming the Ministry of Defense of Russia for the aggression.
For its part, the Ministry of Defense denied Prigozhin’s statements. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) urged members of the Wagner PMC not to comply with Prigozhin’s orders and take measures to arrest him.
The FSB stated that it opened a criminal case against Prigozhin due to the seriousness of the situation and the danger of an internal conflict in Russia. The General Prosecutor’s Office will present a legal evaluation of Prigozhin’s actions classified in accordance with Article 279 of the Criminal Code: organization of an armed rebellion.
