FSB stops smuggling of radioactive substances by Ukrainian agents

Moscow, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Security Service (FSB) detained Ukrainian intelligence agents who sought to plant radioactive substances in the area of the military operation to blame Russia for it.

“The FSB caught red-handed five members of an organized criminal group under the coordination of a Ukrainian citizen, who sought to buy a kilogram of cesium-137 isotope for 3.5 million dollars in order to smuggle that radioactive substance from Russia and plant it in the zone of the military operation”, assured the military entity.

According to the FSB, the criminal group took steps to circumvent legal prohibitions and restrictions in order to discredit the country in the international and media arena by staging scenes to incriminate the Kremlin.

As a result of the operational search activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a criminal case was initiated under illegal handling of radioactive substances and preparation for smuggling of radioactive substances.
