mexico-cuba
Havana, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of Cuba and Mexico on Friday highlighted the historic ties of brotherhood that unite their countries on the 60th anniversary of the Cuban-Mexican Society for Cultural Relations.

At the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), its first vice president, Noemi Rabaza, recalled the foundation of the Society on June 7, 1963, when it was presided over by outstanding Cuban intellectual and essayist Juan Marinello.

Referring to many expressions of solidarity by Mexicans to Cuba, Rabaza recalled that Mexico was the refuge and home of the most outstanding fighters for Cuba’s liberation, from José Martí to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

She underscored Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s statement against the United States blockade against Cuba, according to the ICAP website.

Mexican Ambassador to Cuba Miguel Díaz expressed his warmest congratulations to the Society for Cultural Relations, which has strengthened the solid bridge of cultural diversity between the two nations over the past six decades.

He stated that relations between Mexico and Cuba have deep roots in friendship and cooperation and are a priority for both governments. Both peoples have known, throughout history, how to weave solid cultural and solidarity bonds.

During the meeting, Miguel Barnet, president of the Cuban-Mexican Society for Cultural Relations, recalled historic moments of solidarity between the two peoples, noting that they are brotherly countries that can never be divided.
