Cuban leader assesses Prensa Latina’s challenges and projections

Havana, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) The member of the Political Bureau and organization secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, on Friday assessed Prensa Latina's challenges and projections.

The Communist Party leader held a fruitful meeting with the Board of Directors and workers of the main alternative media outlet in Latin America and the Caribbean, which was founded by the Cuban Revolution on June 16, 1959, and focuses on communication at the service of truth.

In entertaining dialogue, Morales Ojeda learned first-hand about the challenges being faced by the news agency, as well as its development projects and potential as a mass media.

Prensa Latina publishes some 400 news items a day in seven languages, a figure that increases depending on international events. It publishes eight of its own publications and many others from third parties, as well as radio programs, television reports, and it promotes advertising work.

Its main news portal (Spanish) is the site hosted in Cuba with the highest visibility and positioning according to Alexa’s global relationship and maintains information cooperation agreements with about 100 media organizations from around the world.

With correspondents in nearly 40 countries on all continents, Prensa Latina reports directly on international events, and it has tens of thousands of followers on social networks.
