According to a report by both entities, this joint mechanism will allow a more efficient investigation of violations in areas such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems.
This group will tackle child pornography, computer fraud, intellectual property infringements and money laundering derived from cybercrime, they said.
The Minister of Security, Juan Manuel Pino, and the Attorney General, Javier Caraballo, explained to the press, that this project was adopted in view of the increase of illicit actions in the digital world or facilitated through the Internet or other forms of electronic technology.
The agreement includes, among other aspects, the development of procedural manuals and the functions that will govern the actions of the group’s members.
It also calls for developing common priorities and joint operational plans, as well as selecting its representatives, and providing them with training and technical assistance to enhance investigative capacity.
