More than a hundred heads of state and government were invited by President Emmanuel Macron for the two-day forum, focused on reaching consensus for a more reactive, fair and supportive financial system, and aimed at allowing confrontation inequalities, supporting the fight against climate change and materializing the goals of sustainable development.
Cuban President Díaz-Canel arrived in France in his capacity as president of the Group of 77 plus China.
On the other hand, the President of Colombia Gustavo Petro will participate in one of the six planned round tables, entitled “A new method: alliances for green growth”. Dignitaries from Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sissi, South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman, and the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, are also participating.
According to the program, Mottley, the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, and Niger’s President, Mohamed Bazoum, will deliver messages this morning, after Macron’s opening remarks and interventions by representatives of civil society.
The summit on a New Global Financial Pact will finish on Friday with a closing ceremony, a press conference, and a joint photo.
