The newspaper described that the closure of the roads has affected the passage to neighboring towns including Purmarca, Tilcara and Quiaca, and especially that of trucks going to Bolivia and Salta.
It further informed that demonstrators shouted, “We want the reform to fall and, if possible Gerardo Morales Governor!” These unrests have been initiated by the education union on June 5 calling for better salaries.
Pagina/12 journal depicted some banners’ slogans, “Up with the rights, down with the Reform,” amid barricades erected with logs, branches and posters torn from the edge of the roads, and where the “whipalas” seven-colored flags of the Andean peoples are being waved.
