“I would like to emphasize that we are constantly improving serial submarines ordered from us. After testing the first ship with the customer and the Sevmash shipbuilder, we determined what can be improved in the series,” said Rubin CEO Igor Vilnit to the Sputnik news agency.
With more than 100 years of history, the Rubin bureau is a leading company in the development of diesel and nuclear submarines and naval drones, as well as offshore oil platforms. Vilnit added that new electronic equipment has been developed and thatit is slated to be mounted on the next series of submarines in order to meet the most advanced requirements.
The Borei-class nuclear submarines have a length of 170 meters and a displacement of 24,000 tons and can carry up to 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles. The Russian Navy currently has six nuclear submarines of this class.
The Sevmash shipyards launched a Borei-class submersible last December and are building another three ships.
