The Kazakh capital is hosting the 20th round of international consultations on the Syrian crisis on June 20-21, Kazakh daily Kazakhastanskaya Pravda reported this Wednesday.
Delegations from the guarantor countries of the peace process (Russia, Türkiye, and Iran) and representatives of the Syrian Government and opposition are attending the Astana talks.
Delegates from the United Nations, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq are participating as observers.
The talks focus on the global solution to the crisis in Syria, the regional situation, the fight against terrorism, the release of hostages and the search for missing persons, humanitarian issues, the return of refugees, and international assistance for post-conflict reconstruction.
The Astana format is one of the mechanisms Russia, Türkiye, and Iran have developed to deal with the Syrian conflict.
