Chavez was brought handcuffed on a police plane from Tacna city in compliance with the order of the National Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.
TV anchor Nicolás Lúcar lashed out at the innecesary expense in using a light aircraft to bring Chavez to Lima, since she did not resist her arrest and could have been brought on a commercial plane, as is normally done in similar situations.
A heavy police deployment was in charge of receiving Chávez at the Police Aviation base attached to the Jorge Chávez International Airport, from where she was transferred to the Palace of Justice.
After learning the court’s ruling, Chavez advanced her request to serve the 18 months of preventive detention in Tacna, since it is the city where she resides, and her defense points out that the detainees serving preventive detention participate in the judicial hearings by teleconference.
