The 16-year-old student, who attended the Profesora Helena Kolody School in Cambé, Paraná, died at the University Hospital of Londrina where he was admitted in critical condition.
His girlfriend, Karoline Verri, 17, died at that educational center by a shooter.
After the shooting, the police were activated, the shooter was arrested, and an axe, loads of quick-change ammunition, and a 38-caliber gun were confiscated.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said violence at schools and society could no longer be tolerated.
Thirty-one extremely violent shootings have occurred in schools in just over 20 years, between January 2002 and May 2023, according to a study by the University of the Municipality of Campinas in Sao Paulo. A total of 36 people died during that period.
