Syrians from the Golan protest against an Israeli project

sirios-g
Damascus, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) The residents of the Syrian Golan, occupied by Israel since June 1967, protested today to prevent the construction of dozens of wind turbines on their agricultural lands.

The Israeli military from Tel Aviv were deployed on the roads and the accesses to the lands where the wind turbines are planned to be built to prevent the arrival of the residents, which led to clashes in which 20 people were injured.

Following the clashes, the Israeli forces sent reinforcements to surround the land, particularly the area of Al-Hafayer, east of the village of Masada, where the authorities intend to begin constructing the project.

The occupier wants to take over our land and we categorically reject the construction of wind turbines on our land, some villagers said.

Commenting on the incidents, the Syrian Foreign Ministry hailed the Golanese people’s fierce resistance and their continued struggle to reject the Israeli occupation project aimed at stealing hundreds of hectares of land.
