Ramallah, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) A Palestinian died of wounds sustained during an Israeli raid in the city of Jenin, in the West Bank, bringing the number of fatalities there to a total of seven.

Medical sources from the Rafidia Hospital, in the city of Nablus, issued a statement saying that Amjad Aref Al-Jaas, 48, died from gunshot wounds after Israeli soldiers shot him during their raid on the city and its nearby refugee camp. Another five were also killed: Khaled Azzam Asasa, 21; Ahmed Yusef Saqr, 15; Qais Majdi Jabareen, 21; Qassam Faisal Abu Sariya, 29, and Ahmad Daraghmeh.

Nearly a hundred Palestinians were wounded during the operation, several of them severely, including a 15-year-old girl.

According to the Wafa news agency, a large contingent of soldiers stormed the town and the refugee camp on Monday morning, where they fanned out to make arrests. This provoked clashes in various areas, which the soldiers responded to, by opening fire.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society denounced that a military vehicle deliberately hit an ambulance when it was on its way to pick up the wounded.

Israel’s Channel 12 noted that the IDF army used combat helicopters in Jenin for the first time in 21 years.

The secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, accused Israel of waging “a ferocious and open political, security and economic war against our people.” “We are in the middle of a battle on all fronts, which requires Palestinian unity in the face of such aggression,” the politician wrote on Twitter.
