The promoter and organizer of film, theater, and dance festivals in several countries globally will receive the award at a ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on June 26.

The international jury stated that Istanbouli led the rehabilitation of historic cinemas in Lebanon, including Stars Cinema in Nabatieh and Al-Hamra and Rivoli in Tyre, abandoned or destroyed during the civil war (1975-1990).

It also highlighted that Istanbouli was involved in several international projects focused on skills enhancement, youth empowerment, and collaborative partnerships.

It also stressed the establishment in 2020 of the Arab Culture and Arts Network to design and implement activities in the region, which includes more than 700 organizational and individual members from across the world.

Founded in 1998, the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize awards two laureates per year to individuals, groups, or institutions in recognition of their contribution to Arab arts and culture.
