Diaz-Canel stressed the importance of the assistance provided by 90 specialists of the Cuban medical contingent Henry Reeves during the spring of 2020, of which 38 provided assistance in Turin and another 52 in Crema City, both located in the northern regions of Lombardy and Piedmont, respectively.
Shortly before his arrival, the president released his agenda by a tweet,“we will visit the Vatican City State, the Italian Republic and the Republic of Serbia.”
Diaz-Canel will hold meetings on June 20 with Pope Francis; with Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella, as well as with Qu Dongyu, director general of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and he will also meet up with Italian entrepreneurs.
The head of State thus began a tour of European countries, as part of which, in addition to an upcoming visit to Belgrade, the Serbian capital, he will also participate as president of the G77+China, in the “Summit for a new Global Financial Pact” to be held in Paris, France, on June 22 and 23.
