During a farewell ceremony for Cuban Ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong celebrated the high level of relations, exchanges, and close strategic coordination while promoting equality, international justice, and development.

Sun highlighted the role played by the two presidents in developing relations, the close work between the two foreign ministries, and the mutual support on essential issues for both nations’ interests.

“The Chinese-Cuban relations, united by the same ideals and characterized by unwavering solidarity, have become an example of unity and cooperation among socialist countries and sincere mutual assistance among developing countries,” he said.

The Chinese vice foreign minister wished the Cuban ambassador success in his new duties, expressing his confidence that he will continue to pay attention and support the cause of the Chinese-Cuban friendship, expressing his hope that the fraternity between the two peoples will be eternal and intergenerational.

Pereira also pointed out the unprecedented development of bilateral relations in almost four years of intense and tireless work and thanked the Embassy staff for their performance.

Representatives of the Government, the Communist Party, other Chinese institutions, members of the diplomatic staff accredited here, entrepreneurs, Cuban officials, and residents in this country also attended the activity.
