In Cuba, the date is commemorated every third Sunday of June to reciprocate the affection and dedication of children by their fathers.
National People’s Power Assembly Esteban Lazo, in turn, congratulated Cuban fathers, and especially those who serve as lawmakers and delegates.
He recalled that Cuban National Hero Jose Marti said, “The qualities of parents remain in the spirit of their children.”
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez especially congratulated the Cuban fathers who work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who boldly dedicate themselves to the defense of the revolutionary foreign policy and whose example shortens distances and inspires, he noted.
The first commemoration of Father’s Day in Cuba took place on June 19, 1938, at the initiative of writer and artist Dulce Maria Borrero, who advocated the generalization of the tribute.
