Paris, Jun 17 (Prensa Latina) Latin America and the Caribbean will have a significant presence of Heads of State and Government at the summit that Paris will host this month on a New Global Financial Pact, organizers announced today.

Among the main participants in the forum convened by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, on June 22 and 23 at the Palais Brongniart, is the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, in charge of presenting a message at the opening ceremony.

Also notable in the list of leaders is Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, who chairs this year the Group of 77 plus China, a bloc founded in 1964 and made up of 134 of the 193 United Nations member states.

For his part, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will intervene in one of the six planned round tables, entitled “A new method: alliances for green growth”.

The objective of the summit on a New Global Financial Pact is to reach consensus for a more reactive, fair and supportive financial system, which makes it possible to address inequalities, accompany the fight against climate change and materialize the goals of sustainable development.

France foresees the presence of more than a hundred heads of State and Government in this capital, 40 international organizations and around 50 parallel events.

In addition to Macron and Mottley, a speech by the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, is expected at the forum. The promotion of multilateral development banks, debt, reliable information and the role of the private sector also stand out among the topics of the meeting.

The final day, on Friday June 23, will include the family photo, the conclusions of the round tables, a high-level dialogue and a press conference.
