Cuban Prime Minister concludes official visit to Moscow

Moscow, Jun 17 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban delegation -headed by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero- on Saturday concluded its fruitful official visit paid to Russia, reaffirming its willingness to continue strengthening long-term relations with Russia.

Marrero´s visit came in a context to expand and strengthen bilateral relations with Russia, especially in the economic and trade sectors.

In his visit to the Russian Federation, Marrero was involved in manifold events organized by the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), visited the Sochi city, and spoke at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the 3rd Eurasian Congress.

Likewise, the Cuban prime minister toured the exhibition “Eurasia is our home”, where four stands represented by Cuban companies were exhibited. In that context, Marrero presided over the signing of three important documents reached by Biocubafarma Business Group and Russian and Belarusian companies.

In St. Petersburg, the Cuban leader held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin who stated that conditions are being created to expand cooperation, and the work by Russian companies in Cuba is being added.

Mishustin proposed to set up a multinational alliance in the biopharmaceutical sector for a sovereignty in the vaccine and drug production sector within the EEU.

In the second part of his visit, Marrero held talks in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidents of both chambers of the Russian Parliament, the leader of the Communist Party, friends of solidarity and with the staff of the official Cuban embassy to Russia.

He also had the possibility to visit different sites of historical interest and paid tribute at the monuments of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, and at the tomb of the unknown soldier, on the Kremlin walls.

On Thursday, at the opening ceremony of the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Marrero attended a round table entitled “Sovereign development as the basis for a just world”, where he referred his country describes foreign investment as a key element for the socioeconomic development plan, tourism, agriculture, industry and other sectors. “We are open to the world, we´re open for business,” he said.
