Ukraine suffers heavy losses near Makarovka in Donetsk

Moscow, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) The Ukrainian army attempted several times going on the offensive in Makarovka, in the Donetsk region, but suffered significant losses in personnel and matériel, said the acting head of the republic, Denis Pushilin.

As the official commented on Telegram on Friday, the border region between Donetsk and Zaporozhye is one of the places where the most intense fighting is taking place, with Ukrainian forces attempting several assaults in the direction of Makarovka, but being ultimately repelled.

Pushilin added that the enemy saw its counteroffensive frustrated and suffered significant losses both in the said direction and in others further north.

It became known previously that Russian units captured 17 Ukrainian servicemen when a mechanized column of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was ambushed near the town of Novobakhmutka.

Elements of the 28th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army surrendered to Russian units in the direction of Avdeevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Among those who capitulated were several seriously wounded.
