According to the vice-governor of the peninsula, Irina Kiviko, this is the first time that a contest of this nature dedicated to the hero, revolutionary, and fighter for the freedom and independence of Cuba, Ernesto Guevara, has been held in that territory.
Kiviko expressed her hope that in the near future the universities of Crimea will be able to receive again their Cuban friends and the Crimean specialists will be able to help the Cubans. She also recalled that it was Che Guevara who encouraged Cubans to study in the Soviet Union. More than 300 Cubans studied in Dzhankoy in the 60s of the last century.
