Russia’s and Algeria’s Presidents agree to deepen cooperation

Moscow, Jun 15 (Prensa Latina) Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday signed a statement on deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, at the end of the talks held in the Kremlin.

Earlier, Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that the signing of the statement “will mark the transition of Russian-Algerian cooperation to a new qualitative level.”

Mishustin stressed that several documents were signed between members of the Russian and Algerian delegations, among them, an extradition agreement, and deals on cooperation in the area of mass communication, health protection, and cultural cooperation between the countries for 2023-2025 period.

A memorandum of understanding was also initialed between the Russian Ministry of Nature and the Algerian Ministry of Hydraulics on collaboration in the field of water resources, as well as a protocol in the field of justice.

The two nations also signed an agreement between their governments on cooperation in the peaceful exploration and use of outer space, and another one to deepen military collaboration, including the conduct of joint maneuvers and exercises.

Algeria’s President Tebboune arrived in Moscow on June 13 for a State visit, during which he also plans to participate on Friday 16 in the plenary session of the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, alongside Russia’s President Putin.
