Stensby will return to direct the operations of ATCO Energy Systems, based in Canada, while together with the LUMA Energy team he intends to “ensure a smooth transition”.
Almost a year ago, in the midst of a crisis with the U.S.-Canadian privatization consortium, Puerto Rican Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi requested Stensby’s immediate departure because of the unrest created in the country in the midst of a deep crisis with energy transmission and distribution, but his request went unheeded.
“It has been an incredible honor to work in Puerto Rico, to serve our 1.5 million customers, and to lead the more than 3,000 men and women of LUMA,” Stensby said while welcoming his successor, whose background is in the telecommunications industry.
Saca, according to the privatizer of the state-owned Electric Power Authority (Prepa), has more than 25 years of experience in management and operational positions in various industries and geographic areas, including Puerto Rico, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Israel and throughout the United States.
