Bolivia investigates illicit earnings of Jeanine Áñez’s brother

La Paz, Jun 15 (Prensa Latina) The brother of the former de facto president of Bolivia Jeanine Áñez (2019-2020), Juan Carlos, is being investigated for legitimization of illicit gains and must testify today in Santa Cruz, confirmed the Public Prosecutor's Office.

According to the citation, signed by prosecutor Alberto Zeballos, Áñez must appear at 16:00 local time at the offices of the Specialized Department for the Fight Against Corruption, located in the neighborhood known as “Plan Tres Mil” in the Santa Cruz capital.

Juan Carlos served during the mandate of the former opposition governor of Santa Cruz, Rubén Costas, as director of Protected Areas of Santa Cruz.

The prosecutor specialized in the prosecution of crimes against corruption warned that, in case the investigated person does not appear at the summons of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, an arrest warrant could be issued on the basis of article 224 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
