Silvera and his companions will also pay a courtesy visit to the president of the Supreme Court of the Lao People, Viengthone Siphandone.

The Cuban Minister of Justice and his entourage will also hold talks with the chief prosecutor of the Lao Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office, Xaysana Khoutphithoune, in what will be the last of the scheduled official meetings.

Shortly after his arrival, Silvera held a bilateral meeting with his Laotian counterpart, Phayvy Syboualypha, at the end of which a memorandum of understanding was signed, aimed at strengthening collaboration ties between the two countries in the field of justice.

The visit of the Cuban Minister of Justice shows the good state and strengthening of bilateral relations and gives continuity to the fluid exchanges of high-level delegations in recent weeks.

The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and its Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales, visited Laos at the end of last April, and was received by the highest authorities of the country.

A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture headed by its vice minister Maury Hechavarría made a working visit in mid-May. Hechavarría affirmed that the said visit had made it possible to examine the opportunity of reinforcing cooperation in agricultural and livestock sectors.
