The agreements cover trade, agriculture, telecommunications, infrastructure, science and technology, economy, and culture, among others, and were signed following the official talks between Presidents Xi Jinping and Xiomara Castro, the latter visiting China until June 14.
They also complement the strategic relationship between the two countries and will be implemented in the context of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
According to reports, Xi stressed the importance of Castro’s visit almost three months after the diplomatic relations between Beijing and Tegucigalpa were formalized; he welcomed the start of ties and hoped for a future of fruitful results.
Xi congratulated Castro on becoming the first woman president of Honduras, expressed China’s commitment to developing friendly and mutually beneficial relations, and stressed the willingness to work together from a strategic and long-term perspective.
