brasil-solidaridad-cuba-1
Brasilia, Jun 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuban hero Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), called to strengthen friendship with his beleaguered country during the 26th National Convention of Solidarity with Cuba in Belén, capital of the Brazilian state of Pará.

González once again thanked the solidarity of Brazil and especially that of Belén for the magnificent organization, participation and the enriching themes that surfaced in the forum, and recognized that the movement was very creative.

He also stressed that “articulation makes us stronger”, and specified that there are vital issues in which articulation and agreement are strategic for the achievement of specific objectives that allow for the greatest possible impact.

Tania Parra, an ICAP official, and Argentine Nolberto Galiotti, coordinator of the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network, participated along with González in the panel on solidarity and international brigades.

The panelists discussed and exchanged about the performance of the volunteer work and solidarity brigades and the way to improve tasks.

According to Galiotti, Latin America supported Cuba in the hard times with the purchase of syringes. He stated that it was demonstrated that solidarity activity can be promoted, and a communication board was coordinated and formed following the events of July 11th in order to tell the world what was happening in Cuba and denounce media manipulation.

“In the battle of ideas we need to promote what (corporate media fail to report),” said the activist, who announced that a Latin American and Caribbean brigade is being formed, which will carry out a great act and a solidarity march in Santiago de Cuba on July 26th, Cuba’s Rebellion Day.

Galiotti also stressed that efforts must be made to denounce the US blockade and exclude Cuba from the list of states sponsors of terrorism, prepared unilaterally by Washington.
