“Airmobile groups of the main directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Rostov, Sevastopol, Donskoy and Tula regions were sent in to carry out emergency and recovery work in the Kherson region,” according to the report.
Earlier, the Russian government sent a group of 350 rescuers to work in the flooded settlements in the Kherson region and more than 100 pieces of equipment, including jet skis and water pumps.
Up to this point, some 50 settlements are underwater, and it is estimated that 80 towns could end up in the same situation.
Ukrainian troops launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in the early morning of June 6th, causing a breakdown of the gates, which gave way under the pressure of the water.
Russian President Vladimir Putin described the incident as a “barbaric action by Kiev” during a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayip Erdogan.
