Khan met on Thursday with Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez with the purpose of implementing a memorandum of understanding signed by Venezuelan authorities and representatives of the ICC. He also held a meeting with the Venezuelan Attorney General, Tarek Willian Saab, with whom he exchanged views on the achievements of human rights in Venezuela and discussed the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the State of the Bolivarian Republic and the Prosecutor’s Office of the ICC.
On April 3rd, the Venezuelan Government categorically rejected the allegations made by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in his response to the observations presented by Venezuela, and described as “unfounded” the indications made by the CPI regarding the so-called “Venezuela I” matter.
“Once again, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court shows a clearly biased vision in relation to Venezuela, reproducing without consideration the campaigns that seek to instrumentalize the issue of justice and human rights for political purposes,” the statement said.
The statement also pointed out that all of this is “detrimental to the seriousness and rigor” that is expected of such an important international instance.
Venezuela ratified that it will continue to exercise all available actions to make the truth prevail and defend its rights as a nation, in the face of this expression of “lawfare” that openly uses the institutional framework of the International Criminal Court for political purposes.
