In an official statement issued by the CJEF and circulated nationwide today, this legal body of the Executive condemned the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), which invalidated the law on advertising contracting.

It considered that such decision was based on procedural formalisms and invades the powers of the Congress and endangers the balance between the powers, by turning the counterweights into “authoritarian instruments”.

The resolution of the SCJN, which declared unconstitutional the Law for the Transparency, Prevention and Combat of Improper Practices in Advertising Contracting, was issued last night and the eight right-wing magistrates opposed to the Government, including its president Norma Piña, out of the 11 ministers of the Court, voted in favor of it.

This law, in force since June 2021, prohibits agencies from reselling advertising space, and also obliges the media to invoice directly to the advertiser, without any mediation.
