The president received the diplomat and gave him his instructions before heading to Cairo to carry out his duties, almost a month after the decision to readmit Syria to this regional organization after almost 12 years of suspension.
The diplomat-designate is a native of the city of Aleppo, and worked in the Syrian Foreign Ministry for nearly three decades, for eight years he was Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office and International Organizations in Geneva.
Also, he was ambassador to the Vatican and Spain, and worked at the Syrian mission to the UN in New York between 1996 and 2001.
