According to what Christophe Munyanderu, coordinator of the Convention for the Respect of Human Rights, informed the day before, the so-called Allied Democratic Forces (FDA) attacked last weekend the villages of Mutuyeyi, Bekembele and Bulesi, in Irumu territory, and looted the inhabitant’s houses.
This armed faction, operating in northern North Kivu and southern Ituri, is composed of Muslim fighters of Ugandan origin allegedly linked to the radical group Islamic State. According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner, the recent attack of irregular armed groups in Ituri caused the destruction of some 1,800 residences and the displacement of 50,000 people, while in North Kivu some 21,000 inhabitants fled their homes to safer places.
In addition to the FDA insurgent group, the troops of Democratic Congo and its allies are facing in the east of this African territory the so-called March 23, which -according to Kinshasa- have the support of Rwanda, which is refuted by the neighboring nation, in the midst of a bilateral diplomatic crisis.
