The head of the Executive tried to calm the public opinion of the community bloc, by stressing that the general elections of next July 23 will not be a problem for the development of Spain at the head of the EU in the second half of 2023.
Sanchez sent messages to the conservative Popular Party (PP), the main opposition force and according to preliminary polls the favorite to win the July elections.
Sánchez insisted on the strength of Spain at the head of the EU as of July 1, because the objectives are defined, are shared by all the partners and there are pending dossiers that he hopes will come to fruition.
In this line, he made reference to the migratory pact, the new fiscal rules, greater competitiveness of the EU and the strengthening of relations with other regions such as Latin America and the Caribbean, among other initiatives.
Next Friday is the deadline for political parties to present their lists of candidates.
