Juan Luis León, 24, told Prensa Latina that he assured that “before entering the university he was excited, knowing that he was going to have a career in public health, but he realized that it is about effort, feeling for others.”

Social commitment and conscious involvement are the leading factors for doctors and other public health professionals who graduate from several higher education centers in Cuba, including the Carlos J. Finlay University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey, founded by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
