Cuba celebrates 50th anniversary of classic film

Havana, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuban leading cinema on Monday posted to be held a special screening on June 7 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Man from Maisinicu, a classic film in Cuba.

The feature film -directed in 1973 by Manuel Perez- will be screened at the 23 y 12 cinema, located in Havana’s Vedado district.

Such a film featured outstanding actors including Sergio Corrieri, Raul Pomares, Mario Balmaseda, Adolfo Llaurado and Luis Rielo, among others.

The outstanding actor Reinaldo Miravalles starred in one of his most intense and renowned performances in the film, the Cinema’s leaders pointed.

Another merit of the film was its valuable music composed by Leo Brouwer and Silvio Rodriguez, prestigious personalities of Cuban culture.

The Man from Maisinicu’s plot starts in the early months of 1964, in the Escambray Mountains, in central Cuba.

One morning, the administrator of the Maisinicu farm Alberto Delgado y Delgado´s corpe was found. So, experts began investigating to figure out why Delgado y Delgado was killed, providing the film with an atmosphere of intense struggle and conflict.

Based on actual facts that have taken place in the early 1960s, the film depicts the personality of a State Security agent infiltrated among the counterrevolutionary gangs concentrated in the Escambray region.
