Aguilera held this weekend a meeting with Health Ministry´s officials and experts to tackle down on complex epidemiological scenario reported in the country.
During the last few days, a three-month-old baby died after getting complicated by severe bronchiolitis, while the increased number of children with respiratory problems has caused a surge in hospitalization rates by up to 91%.
Aguilera explained children did not have the opportunity to be in contact with the virus, so their immunity is too low, and that´s the major reason for the more aggressive feature of the disease.
According to her, there is no specific treatment for this respiratory disease and what can be done is to cut the contagion by wearing face masks and avoiding children being in crowded places.
She also highly recommended people with symptoms not to go near children and not to send sick children to nurseries, kindergartens and schools.
