According to the Pan-Arab TV channel, Afif condemned the involvement of the name of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance in the event in which Irish soldier Sean Rooney was killed, and three of his comrades were injured in the town of Al-Aqbiya in December 2022.
Afif was surprised by the alleged decision by First Military Investigating Judge Fadi Sawan to include Hezbollah’s name in the case while stressing that the December 14 incident was unintentional and accidental.
“It is an accidental event between the population and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and we were not a party to it at all,” the Hezbollah media official said.
Incidentally, he stressed that Lebanese Resistance intervened at the time to reduce tensions and maintain contacts with UNIFIL and the Army.
It also strengthens goodwill through cooperation between the population and the military judiciary, Afif said.
