The president, who hosted the 2nd Central Asia-European Union Summit in the tourist city of Cholpon-Ata, on the shores of Lake Issyk Kul, recalled this region’s privileged location for the transit of goods between two major continents.

“The development of transportation, logistics and infrastructure projects can become an engine of growth for Central Asian economies and the region can become a connecting hub between Europe and Asia, which will benefit all parties,” Zhaparov added.

In this context, a railway project between China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan becomes particularly important, because it would connect the region with Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

“Central Asia and the European Union have considerable potential,” the Kyrgyz leader pointed out, and in this regard, he proposed to create a platform for improving the transport and logistics chain in the context of the project at the level of those responsible for transport structures.
