“Happy birthday, dear Raul! What an enormous privilege to have you with us at 92 years of age, ready with your foot in the stirrup to defend the country, the Revolution and socialism with more force than ever. Let no one doubt it #RaulesRaul,” the Cuban head of State wrote on his Twitter account.
Also on Twitter, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero conveyed his congratulations to the Army General and thanked him for his example in defending the Cuban Revolution and “for always keeping alive the ideas of our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.”
Likewise, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez highlighted the leader of the Revolution’s optimism, as well as his spirit of resistance and confidence in victory.
National People’s Power Assembly President Esteban Lazo echoed the congratulations and described Raul Castro as “a reference for every revolutionary and an example for our people, with an everlasting place in the Motherland’s soul and history.”
Raul Castro was born on June 3, 1931, in the town of Biran, Holguin, in the then Oriente province.
