The war against corruption, considered by Bukele as important as the one against gangs, is headed by Attorney General of the Republic Rodolfo Delgado, who was part of the operations against allegedly ill-gotten properties of the former president, who came to power for the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) party.
Preliminary reports disclosed by authorities state that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) seized assets valued at 10,620,210.24 dollars, which were transferred to the State.
During the operation, the high magistrate told local media that Cristiani was the so-called president of peace, “but in reality he was basically a president of thieves… who basically became rich with public money.”
Delgado said that Cristiani basically created an entire legal structure to facilitate the appropriation of public funds by him and his closest circle, for which he will have to answer to justice since these crimes do not expire with time.
