The exhibition “Ge Ouryao! Why are you afraid!”, to be inaugurated this Friday at 6:00 p.m. local time, is based on the research conducted by the French creator between 2016 and 2022 in the archipelago of the Comoros, a group of African islands in the southeastern part of the Indian Ocean.
The exhibition, the organizers say, is the culmination of nearly 10 years of work and immersion in an island territory cracked by migration policies and an omnipresent Spanish colonial heritage. The artist’s approach to the communities with which she lived for several years, established strong relationships with its protagonists.
According to the website of the French Embassy in Cuba, Henno’s work, a photographer and filmmaker, has a strong plastic presence, is decidedly political and each work reflects parallel realities, sometimes marked by the phenomena of displacement or migration.
