According to IRNA, the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the countries that has expressed its desire to join the group with great influence on the world economy.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari said that so far, 19 countries have expressed their desire to join the BRICS.
During his visit to Cape Town, the head of Iranian diplomacy expects to meet with his counterparts to talk about issues of mutual interest, IRNA added.
