Guitar concert in Cuba to honor Spanish musician Andres Segovia

Havana, Jun 1 (Prensa Latina) As part of the "Concert Music, Closer to You" project, a recital dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the death of Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia, a virtuoso of the classical period, will take place at the Argeliers Leon Hall in this capital on Thursday.

Musician Luis Manuel Molina will open the concert in tribute to the remarkable interpreter and as a guest of the Havana Polyphonic Choir, directed by Maestra Yanelis Smith, according to the program.

The concert will start at 16:00 hours, local time, and the audience could appreciate different stages of the music written by Andres Segovia (1983-1987), First Marquis of Salobreña, a noble title that King Juan Carlos I of Spain gave him for his contributions to Spanish culture.

Segovia was also a music professor and a composer, as well as a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and Nuestra Señora de las Angustias.
