The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the objective of the event is to enrich the political and community agenda, in addition to recognizing the role of social movements and groups. It will also be held in a virtual format.
According to the statement, “the event is going to take place within the framework of Argentina’s pro tempore presidency of Mercosur and on the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Forum for Consultation and Political Coordination of that institution”.
“After a long interruption and considering the time that has elapsed since its last version in 2016, the panels are expected to cover the main issues on regional agenda in search of a broad, plural and inclusive dialogue,” the statement added.
Among the participants are representatives of cooperatives and entities of the popular economy, peasant women, young environmentalists, human rights defenders, members of the LGBTIQ community, migrants, Afro-descendants and indigenous people.
The conclusions of the meeting will be included in a final document, which will be sent to the heads of state of Mercosur.
