Boric referred his participation in the summit called by his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva where concrete proposals on culture, migration, the fight against transnational crime and the climate crisis were analyzed

“Our region is the mestizo America, we are proud to be Latin Americans, and from here we speak to the world,” the president assured in front of the two chambers of the National Congress at its headquarters in the city of Valparaiso.

Regarding regional relations, President Boric announced his nation will co-host -along with Colombia and Brazil- the 1st Latin American Summit for a Global, Inclusive, Sustainable and Equitable Taxation.

In a broadcast open to the entire national territory by the public media, Boric recalled Chile´s special character thanks to its Antarctic status.

In addition to being a member of the Antarctic Treaty, Chile is “one of the main gateways to that continent of science and peace” and in that framework, he noted, the Cape Horn University Sub-Antarctic Center was inaugurated in the southern city of Puerto Williams.
